An Amazon Order, a USPS Delivery

Empty Amazon box
I ordered a book from Amazon and even though it said “shipped and sold by Amazon.com”, it was actually shipped via USPS. As is to be expected from the United States Postal Service, the box broke open in transit and the book fell out somewhere along the way. For some reason, the postal carrier delivered an empty box to my porch.

Sedgwick County Zoo (Wichita)

This was one of my favorite “micro trips” of the summer. I’ve not been to Kansas since 1982 and even then we were only passing through on our way to and from Wyoming. I enjoyed it so much, I may make this a routine getaway destination.

Borders Books Building Gets Gutted

Borders getting gutted
It warms my heart to see this Borders Books finally being gutted. I worked there 20 years ago and it was the most miserable, tedious, mind-numbing job I’ve ever had. I think highly of only a handful of people that worked there; the rest were a waste of good air.
