Cutting the Cord

I connected a ClearStream 2Max antenna to an HDHomeRun Flex Quatro HDTV tuner which was then connected to the home network. From there, a dedicated PC running Plex acts as a media server and DVR. Flawless perfection. So long DirecTV!

2021, The Year’s Bingings

These are the television series I’ve binged, in their entirety, this year. As in 2020, I had a lot of free time on my hands.

Star Trek The Original Series
Star Trek Discovery
Star Trek Picard
Deadwood (plus Deadwood The Movie)
Game of Thrones
Downton Abbey (plus Downton Abbey The Movie)
True Blood
Malcolm in the Middle
M*A*S*H (plus the original movie)
Raising Hope
The Mandalorian
Band of Brothers (twice)
My Name is Earl
3rd Rock from the Sun
Gunsmoke (seasons 1-8. To be continued into 2022)

Binging HBO’s Deadwood (Again)

Binging Deadwood from start to finish has become a yearly tradition (sometimes twice) before the anniversary of the movie’s release. This year, I managed to blaze my way through all three season (36 episodes), then the movie,  in 5 days.

Another tradition is to watch Deadwood The Movie on the anniversary weekend of its original release (May 31, 2019) while eating a dinner of “toast and eggs or toast and bacon”. Fans of the series will know what that’s all about. And of course, the canned peaches…

2020, The Year for Binging

I had a lot of free time on my hands in 2020 and “binge watched” several complete television series. Here’s the (mostly) complete list…

Star Trek
Star Trek Enterprise
Star Trek The Next Generation
Star Trek Deep Space 9
Star Trek Voyager
Star Trek Picard
Mash
Monk
The Waltons
The Andy Griffith show
Deadwood
The Mandalorian
Star Wars The Clone Wars
Star Wars Rebels
Band of Brothers
The Pacific

In total, that’s 83 seasons of television. Throw in a hundred or so movies and it’s probably the most unproductive year of my life.
