Tonight I begin prep for Wednesday’s colonoscopy. I’m hoping results this time will be favorable and am encouraged by recent CT scans. This will be the first one since November 1, 2023 when a large mass was found.
A few things I remember from that day…
I wasn’t sure which shirt to wear so I grabbed my olive drab M*A*S*H t-shirt. I’ve loved that show since I was a small child. One of the things I remember from watching the show over the years are medical terms; most prominently, the word “anastomosis”. The shirt was a poor choice and was a sign of things to come.
Another “dark omen” was laying on the bed in surgery while the doctor and staff were preparing for the procedure. While talking with one of the nurses, she put on some music for the doctor. It was Seal’s “Kiss from a rose”. I remember hearing that song on the radio August 12, 1995 as I’d finished working a terrible car accident in Lake Ozark. Ever since, I’ve always associated that song with death.
